Downloaded a virus off AIM

I clicked on a link in another person away message and now that message keeps popping up as my away message. I have uninstalled AIM twice and it still is happening. The person that i got it from just restarted their computer and now it is gone. I did that many times but it is still happening. I dont know what is goin on and could use some help. The message will pop up like every minute and it is really annoying. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!!!
