Browser hijacked - HJT log

I've scanned with Ad-Aware, CWShredder, and Spybot. All updated. Here is the HJT log. This randomly hijacks the browser and sends it to a search page with a bunch of crap he doesn't want..plus popups.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2

    Hi.

    Get rid of the following:

Now, it is very important that you do the following:

Open up the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and go to the process tab.

Right click on each of the following processes, and click "END PROCESS TREE":

    C:\WINNT\System32\wupdte.exe
    C:\socks.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\IEXPLORE.EXE
    C:\Program Files\3M\PSNLite\PsnLite.exe
    C:\PROGRA~1\3M\PSNLite\PSNGive.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\PRPCUI.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\AEIWLSTA.EXE
    C:\WINNT\System32\tp4serv.exe

Now, go to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 and DELETE IEXPLORE.EXE, as well as MABIG.DLL.

Then go to C:\ and delete SOCKS.EXE

Now, PULL THE PLUG on your computer - do not shut it down properly!

Turn it back on and post a new log.

He's got a laptop. Would I have to disconnect the battery to shut it down like this? It's an older IBM A30.

Yeah, unplug the wire and just yank the battery out to shut it down improperly.
