recovery disc won't boot

edited September 2004 in Hardware
My Compaq Presario 7000 series won't boot it's recovery disc. I went by the instructions, inserting the recovery disc and performing a shut down and restart but it doesn't boot on startup like it's supposed to. I tried this in both the cd/rw drive and in the dvd drive, I looked in MY COMPUTER and it shows it being in the drive.Pleeeese, sombody help!! :banghead:

    First of all don't panic!

There are two _potential_ reasons I can think of why it won't boot from the CD.

    1) I know lots of recovery CD packs come with a floppy disk that you must boot off to start the recovery process. Look in your compaq stuff and see if there is a floppy lurking somewhere.

If there is definitely no floppy disk needed...

    2) Your machine may not be set to boot from CD first before hard drive. You just need to go into the BIOS and set that to the correct order. If you don't know how, post back and we shall see if I we can help :)

Check the docs carefully for mention of a floppy disk :)
