XP-M 2400+ Troubles

Helping a buddy set up his new machine. We stuck a 2400+ in it, its an XPM so the multi should be unlocked. He's just runnin it stock atm...heres the thing, his memory is running at 266 and its corsair 3200.

I'm thinkin it has to do with running the cpu and memory synchronously...which yields the best performance. Yet its holdin his ram back. Do we need to do a pinmod on his cpu to let the cpu run faster? I could just change the multiplier around to get the same result but I didn't have to do that with my 1700+...which I did pinmod.

Any ideas?

Lawn, what multiplier and fsb speed are you presently running it at. The mobile 2400's default to a 6 multi, so I assume that you've set it to something higher in bios. Try setting the fsb at 200 and the multi at 11 with around 1.6v vcore set and then see what the memory is running at. If he hasn't maunually set the memory to run asynch, the memory should be at a 200 fsb also, when the proc is at 200 fsb.
