I would have figured this would be done by now, which has me thinking maybe it's difficult to do. But I think it would be cool to have that smile face link popup thing be available in the quick reply thing at the bottom of the threads.
Yeah it would be nice. As i'm writing this quick msg from 'Quick Reply' and want to add a smiley but I only know the happy smiley face . Would be nice to have the whole list of Smileys here
Or, and maybe this could be a config option ... you could have it sense and auto-replace the text properly. You know? Like if I type : ) (no spaces, obviously) it would recognize that as a smiley and automatically replace it ... would be nifty as an option!

Try, with spaces taken out:

There's a few of the more common ones. This site does not yet grok my favorite, this one:
8 { ) (smiling guy with moustache and glasses)
Code is working for straight replace from quick reply, shorty, just no index to codes in graphical form shows up. Can a link like the more link on the minilist of smilies in full editor be inserted in quick reply editor and say Smilies ??? The full index that link displays has codes next to smilies, right??? Did last I looked anyhow, that's where most of THESE codes came from.
It took some figuring out. Then I found someone had actually done a hack elsewhere but couldn't get the smilies to line up right.. so I played around with it until It worked as I wanted
