Well, I've tried many AV. I actually got my mom's boss to switch to Panda Titanium for their entire network, which I found out wasn't so smart. Titanium's core is tougher than Platinums, because Ti is ONLY an anti-virus. Now, first I had Norton ... no comment there. Then I went to AVG. It found a virus (this was after transferring Norton-protected files from a different computer...mine was a fresh install, files were old). So, I got curious. Got Panda Platinum (after hearing many good things about it). Didn't find anything. Hearing that Titanium was tougher, I got that. Found one. Then I tried BitDefender Professional. Found three. Has a semi-large memory footprint (23 megs when active scanning, more when system scanning), but I haven't been infected once. In fact, at my friend's, he sent me a file and BD told me there was a virus in it. His McAffee never knew otherwise ;).

So BD has my vote. As for firewall, I couldn't say. I stay behind a router everywhere I go, and that's works just fine. BitDefender does, however, have it's own firewall with the program that you can turn on and off. I'm not sure how effective it is, though.

Sorry for the long post :-/

I use Zone Alarm. I don't really use anti-virus software because I ALMOST NEVER download anything or get onto websites other than about three others besides this one. I download the odd game file, and I always do it with Zone Alarm running. I have Norton Antivirus 2004 installed, but I always end-task all of it's programs (the ones that let me, anyway). I keep it on becuase my wife hates ZA...the popups drive her nuts, because she doesn't understand what they are trying to say. I am a PC control freak and want to know when ANYONE pings me. I also have my cookie control set to "prompt", so that I can control those little nasties, too.

Entropy- those eyebrows are hysterical. I get a laugh every time I see your av...

AVG for AV, router for my firewall. I don't like any unnessesary programs in the background, I hate having AntiVirus even, but the internet is becoming beyond rediculous.
