OK first off let me explain my idea and situation.

1st My room is across the hall
2nd My pc with all my music is in the office
3rd all my MP3's and other music are on my hd
4th I can't listen to them in my room UNLESS
vvvv

1st I buy a 75ft to 100ft Digital toslink Cable
2nd Pull my audigy 2zs and install the onboard sound ( has toslink )
3rd run the toslink wire through the attic from my pc to my denon reciever

Will it work?

I am also thinking of pulling a 100ft s video cable from my 6800 to the reciver so i can kinda use my pc as a home theater setup

    Gnome,

I take it you want to feed the stereo amp in one room with the MP3s from the PC in another room.

Running toslink cable from the PC to the stereo can get expensive and you also have no control over the sound. You can't skip ahead or back etc. from the stereo amp room.

There are wireless devices built for this purpose but I, myself, haven't worked with any of them so I don't know the exact quality.

Here is an example. Motorola SimpleFi or what looks more promising.... the SoundBlaster wireless music centre.

sounds good. but got one question. My network is a hard wired network BUT the router is a wireless router too. Would i haveto plug in a Wireless network card in my pc to get this to work or will my pc be fine on the hardwire?

basicall will a wireless piece of hardware like that read a wired pc? I dont see why not since a wireless pc can go on my network

    Gnome,

I'm going to hazard a guess that the Soundblaster unit is a reciever. You need the broadcast point which is the wireless router itself. The wireless NIC in the PC will have nothing to do with the equation.

    From the ANAND article.

"The only other thing that needs to be configured is the receiver, which can be connected automatically to your wireless network, assuming that you have a single wireless network and don't have WEP enabled. While most home users have a single wireless network, they do have some level of WEP encryption enabled, which means that the receiver will need to be configured manually in these cases.

Establishing the wireless network settings for the receiver is as simple as hooking up the receiver to the computer with the software installed and running the networking wizard. The only thing that we noticed is that installing the server software on two computers and trying to set up the receiver would make it fail the networking setup wizard test. It is possible to have up to 4 receivers on a single network with one remote that controls them or remotes assigned to each receiver. This multi-receiver capability, however, seems to be enabled only when you have more than one receiver actually present to set up.

Once the receiver is set up, it can be placed anywhere in the home within the wireless network range (receiver has a range of 98ft, remote has a range of 32ft). The receiver itself has a fairly small profile, measuring in at 6.89 x 5.51 x 1.1 inches, and it is similar in size to some of the newer networking access points that we have seen."

So I'm going to take from that. Hardwire the receiver to the computer for setup. After it's setup...disconnect and move to the stereo room..use. :)

You could always do what I did though. You don't need a lot of horsepower to run MP3s so I just put a PC beside the stereo...fed the tv with SVIDEO and hooked right off the soundcard. The PC is on a wireless NIC so I synchonize it from time to time with my main box thus updating any music files from the main box to the HTPC system.

You need another PC in the house...right? :)
