Monitor stays on standby...

Hey there guys, got a wee little problem that piddling me off;
When I turn on my 'puter everything starts working except my monitor which tends to stay on standby (orange light on button). I don't have a clue what is causing this, but I swapped graphics cards and still same problem.
The only times it seems to work is either when I restet my mobo or when I take out the HDD IDE and turn it on. :confused:

Someone know what's going on?

    Do you see the post screen before the OS boots?
    Do you see the OS splash screen at all?
