Bart was a member of Team 93 and an active part of our Folding forums back in the early days of our team. He died suddenly of a massive heart attack early in 2003. We still remember him.
It was decided that our team would honor his memory by naming a Folding award after him. I wasn't on the committee making that decision, but it seems to have worked out that the BWA has become something which is not so easy to achieve that it gets passed out to everyone, yet is within the grasp of anyone who gives Folding a serious shot.
I can't speak for the whole team, but I'd be willing to bet that most of our teammates view 5,000 points as the dividing line between those who Fold for a time on a whim, and those who appreciate the significance of what this research will mean to all of us (and our kids) down the road.
Your teammates know what I'm talking about, and they appreciate the good work you are doing. Being a part of something which will change the world really lifts you up!
