Cardbus was sort of the new style (It's still PCMCIA) but 32 bit rather than 16 bit I believe. If it doesn't say Carbus then it's 16 bit PCMCIA rather than 32bit PCMCIA, but you only need to worry about that if you are living in 1995

That's exactly it. Usually the manufacturer will make a destinction on their website stating one or the other.
