F@H Core download error(#6), waiting for retry

What's going on with this?
I hate seeing task manager sitting there at 0% usage...
Can I just dump all the data in the work directory and get it to start over?

    which system is that on?

that must be on the P4 ...if you are running any flags you might want to try removing them.

If it envolves beta testing send me a PM. Thanks :fold:

I installed it on the 24th of sept when I started my new job. It's on an XP Pro system with the newest graphical client, 5.02 downloaded straight fron Stanford's site.

I ended up uninstalling it, deleting the F@H directory and reinstalling. It's currently half way through a new WU. The new install is still using Core_65.

I don't know, but it's doing it again. This time it's working though.

Man I am behind. I have no idea what the PMD core is.

DanG, if you aren't running beta, then tell us. These aren't supposed to be going out to anyone other than people that are beta testing. If you aren't running beta, then Stanford needs to know that these are being released to general usage or advmethods people.

Yeah there was nothing that came up under a search without logging in.

DanG perhaps you should try the console version instead ...none of these issues are being reported.
Just uninstall the graphical client but don't remove the work folder. Install the console version 5.02 and everything should run smooth. Report back and let us know how that goes please.
Do you know which version of the graphical client you are installing? Is it the one that is currently available from the download site?

Sorry for all of the questions but stanford likes to keep up on these things.

    Thanks for folding! :fold:

I just reread the first respones. It's on a P4 with no flags being used. It is not a beta client, it is the graphical client 5.02 that I downloaded from the stanford website.
I just checked the log, it's again using the new core with Project: 584 (Run 3, Clone 11, Gen 0) unit that I was assigned. The only thing I have done differently is check the box to allow large work assignments.

    Ok it's been confirmed.
It's definitely a bug with the graphical client and they have been testing a new graphical client but it's taking some time. So as long as you use the graphical client until this issue gets resolved and an updated version comes out you will probably still keep bumping into this problem

As I said easlier ...I would highly suggest you dump the graphical version and go with the console version ...it's simpler/.

We're still looking into DanG thanks for your patience.
I would recommend the -advmethods flag on that P4 personally ...it couldn't hurt at this point and it may help to solve your problem.

Ok, added the -advmethods flag. It hasn't been a problem since yesterday morning, and it's been through a couple of WU's with the new core. I will keep you updated.

    ok good!
the -advmethods flag is a request for beta protiens in their final phase of testing. They more reliable than the true betas but not as reliable as the puble protiens.

IMO with this flag you will get mostly gromacs ...which is a good thing.
When you add this flag you must stop and restart the client for it to take affect.

Thanks again and keep us updated! :fold:

Hey DanG it's me again ...seems I misinterpreted some info about the graphical client in an earlier post. This wasn't the cause of your particular problem so you should still be ok to use it.

Ivoshiee from the community had this to say on the topic ...

"It is unlikely an issue with the GUI client - it is up to AssignmentServer to select the suitable server for particular client. Maybe the presence or absence of some flag will affect it in this case..."

So apparently the gui client is ok as far as that issue is involved and can be employed affectively if that is the client you prefer.

Sorry about that and I apologize. :fold:

I suspect it will not be an issue any more. I just remoted into my work machine, and it's still happily chugging away on a WU, so I think that it was just the getting of the core in the first place that was the problem.
