Home Search Assistant - Brian B.

Hi, my name is Brian and I'm having trouble removing HSA. I already ran Spybot Search and Destroy as well as Ad-Aware SE Personal and fixed any and all problems I could. While following the HSA removal guide i got stuck at Step 4. I couldn't find any of the services files I was looking for (Network Security Service, Workstation NetLogon Service, and/or Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper) I followed the other instructions on how to look for them but I still had no luck...so I registered and posted a forum just as the guide instructed to do if I still had problems. After not being able to find the services, I was wondering if I even have HSA. But no matter what I do my home page keeps reverting back to "about:blank" or "your-searcher" I've also had several "Only The Best" pop-ups. But I'm still not sure. I've spent about a week now fixing my computer and this HSA is my last problem. I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get because I dont know what to do now. Thanks to everyone...especially the one's who made this website.

Have you rebooted since you posted that log? If you have, please post a new one. HSA creates randomly named files, so giving you removal instructions for that log would be pointless. if you haven't rebooted, please say so, and don't reboot until you are instructed to.

hello, thanks for replying so quickly. well i have rebooted since that last log. but to my surprise...the problem (from what i can see) is gone. before when i had the problem...i would search the registry (using Run - regedit) and find a file called HSA. no matter how many times i would delete it...it would keep comming back. but now (and i dont know how or why) i cant find it. i have no pop ups and my home page remains set to what i set it to...even after rebooting it. so somewhere between starting the removal process and posting the thread...it was removed. so as of right now, could someone please review these two logs, they are the one's after rebooting, and tell me if they see any "bad" files...or anything like that to remove. also...i really want to have some peace of mind...and if someone could tell me that they find no signs of HSA then i would be forever greatful. this isnt a priority thing for me anymore, since i have no signs of any problem...but i wont reboot until i recieve a respond. but please take your time...i'm sure other people need help more than i do. but any help is and would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.

    Hello :)

You still have some garbage in there.

You need to make sure this process: C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\Application Data\amee.exe is ended. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up task manager, go to the "processes" tab, and then right click on that process and click "End Process Tree".

After you do that, remove the following HJT entries:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\hsvrg.dll/sp.html#37794
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\hsvrg.dll/sp.html#37794

Then, find and delete the following:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\hsvrg.dll
C:\PROGRAM FILES\Windows SyncroAd (delete that WHOLE FOLDER)

    You're welcome :)

Make sure you read the article in my sig (How did you get infected...) and also, it would be REALLY cool if you checked out our folding team and joined up with us to help find cures for protein related diseases :) Check the link in my sig :)
