How do I get rid of this?

I don't want that Norton junk on my Recycle Bin! I want the normal one!

Right click on it, click "properties" and then somewhere in there you'll see "turn off norton protection for all drives".... I'm pretty sure that's it.

    I did and it's still there! :(

There should be another option in one of the tabs of the recycle bin properties that turns your recycle bin type to "Normal recycle bin".

you could also choose not to install the unerase wizard in the first place before you installed the norton suite

I've been getting a "C: not accessable" message after each boot ever since I installed NAV 04 with SP2. Am I the only one?

I got that the other day, not sure exactly how but I think I deledted a file or folder off the desktop that made norton and the OS unhappy.

The only way I fixed it was to uninstall Norton and then because the problem files were form a progy that I was installing (icons/shortcuts actully) I reinstalled it in the exact same place as before and that seemd to work. After that I could reinstall Norton.

I don't think that its a service pack 2 issue but I could be wrong.

I don't even know what that norton recycle bin does or the unerase wizzard? Never had to use it... funny I wouldn't even know IF I needed TO use it cause I don't know what it does... lol ;D

I turn it off, but first set the size it can use to zero and hit apply, then you can also disable the service itself. And if ya just hate seeing it on the desktop (long sigh...) use one of the XP tweaking tools like x-setup to remove it so you no longer see it anymore. I do that because I disable all the recycle bin crapola anyway. When I am deleting files I want them really gone not just moved aside in case I made a booboo.

Hi, not sure if this is what you want but if you Right Click Recycle Bin > Properties > Click Recycle Bin Tab > under 'Double-Clicking Item Options' select 'Standard Recycle Bin'.

I have found that you also need to disable the Norton Protected Storage service.

That's only for double-clicking. I just want that menu gone.

I don't you can remove it from the context menu unless you edit a specific registry entry which I wouldn't know which.

He probably didn't understand well or something. I would've posted screenshots but I have NAV Corp installed and it doesn't have the protected recycle bin thing.

Hi Black Hawk, I have Norton SystemWorks 2004 which has Norton Protected Recycle Bin. I don't mind showing pics but i'm not sure what he's looking for.

If someone can tell me than i'll try my best o provide whatever is needed.

From what I can see, he wants to disable the Norton Protected Recycle Bin (which it seems he was able to do) and remove the context entry (the "UnErase Wizard" and "Empty Norton Protected Files"), but I believe that kind of stuff is removed in the registry.

I used NAV2004, but got tired of messing with the recycle bin properties and so I uninstalled it and installed NAV 7.6

But if there is no nortons recycle bin and the service is disabled who friggin cares what the friggin right click context menu shows for gawds sake. I know we deal with weird anal nutso's here but thats stretching it to the limit isnt it? He can change the name of the icon, he can disable protection on the recycle bin and even disable the whole service so whats the friggin big deal if it leaves to stupid boigus non useful entries on the right click context meu anyway?

And you guys think I'M ANAL about this stuff? This isnt worth sp[ending 10 seconds jacking with when..

    1) We disabled Nortons recycle bin usage
    2) killed the service
    3) we even killed the icon from the desktop if he wanted it because the look bothered him

    I mean come on now.....

D'oh! It's been a long time since I've installed the UnErase Wizard with Norton Systemworks.

When you install Norton the next time, don't go with the standard installation and go with the custom installation and uncheck the box to install the UnErase Wizard.

Since you really want UnErase Wizard gone from the context menu, it maybe slightly different to Systemworks since you are using the Anti-Virus, go the Add/Remove programs and select Norton Anti-Virus. Click the change button, then modify button. Uncheck the box for UnErase wizard and complete the rest of the modification to Norton Anti-Virus.

Yeah, I tried that too and it only gave me the option to uninstall.

Hmm...okay, then either uninstall Norton Anti-Virus and reinstall a custom installation with UnErase Wizard box unchecked or, live with the UnErase Wizard crap on the context menu.

Meh. I solved the problem by getting Norton Antivirus 2005. Apparently, the Professional NAV comes with that extra junk.

It doesn't give you a chance to choose if you want it or not.
