What are some good extensions to scan?

Alright, I'm trying to get BitDefender to lighten up a little bit. Sometimes, when eDonkey rescans its files, BD does it, too. It's set to scan pretty much any 'accessed or P2P transferred file'. But, honestly, aside from proof-of-concept virii, they're all pretty much the same types. So, what should I have it scan? I think exe, zip, rar, ace, and tar would be enough?
Btw, it won't scan anything over [x] MB's, so I don't have to worry about it digging through a 700 meg file. Right now it's set to scan files less than 5 megabytes. Any suggestions?
Also, if you have tried and/or used BitDefender, and have found something else ... let me know. Don't even try saying AVG, because it's crappy. Anything else, though, I would be up for looking into.
Thanks!
[edit] I'm not honestly sure how much either of those settings will have on performance. Just seems to me having it scan EVERY accessed/transferred file is bad for discs, and bad for performance. If it isn't, feel free to tell me off . Oh hell, you can do that just for fun, if you want

So AVG is at the bottom ... for me at least ...
You will have to scan almost everything amymore. Anything that can execute (exe, dll, scr, etc...) and don't forget JPEG now.
That's why I like NOD. It scans all files without impact and then I don't have to reconfigure it everytime a new virus/exploit arrives.
