My Hi Jack This log

Hi
I found this website by searching on some of the files that appear on my startup and noticed the great multitude of knowledgeable people that are located on this board.

I have dealt before with spywarey by using SPYbot and AD-aware but it seems that some problems are never fixed. The log below is from my very old win 98 laptop. Which should have the least problems but I am sure it has plenty of problems.

on another note, I have had problems before with XP when I ran Ad-aware and deleted the files found, the machine only booted to the login screen and when I tried to login, it goes straight to logout. This will be another post on another day when I run HI jack on my fiancee machine and get all the garbage found on that machine off once and for all.

Crunchie

Close all windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished tick the box to the left of the following entries & hit 'fix checked':

Reboot.

Clear out your Temporary internet files and other temp files.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel >Internet Options.
Under the General tab click the Delete temporary internet files,
delete all Offline content as well. Clear out Cookies.

Also, go to Start > Find/search > Files or folders > in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit > select all -> File > delete.

Empty/delete the entire contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. (Contents but not the folder itself.)

In order to view these files you may have to select 'show hidden files/folders.' Instructions on how to here.

Empty the Recycle Bin.

I followed the steps you posted and here is the log file after I cleaned the temp files and the two entries that you mentioned on hijack.

I also uninstalled the yahoo toolbar and Messenger.

Apart from posting half of your log below the full one, that looks good to me .
You can fix this line if you wish to save yourself a little bit of system resources. Note that it is not malware.
