Ok Here we go...

set up - what I have
1 - Intel Board D925XCV - :D
1 - Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.40 GHz 800 MHz :smokin:
2 - 512mb DDR2 400 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
2 - WD Caviar SE 7200 200 gb hdd (primary IDE channel)
1 - Sony 8x4x12x DVD+RW / 4x2x12x DVD-RW / 40x24x40x CD-RW (master)
1 - Sony 52x CD-ROM (secondary)
1 - Maxtor One Touch 120GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive

Now problem is when I plug in the Maxtor one touch USB, either the cdroms will go bye bye, or the 2nd WD HDD will. its completely random also,
been talking to Intel.. :shakehead (lotta good that has done).
They keep saying were looking into it.. (they can not duplicate it there)

any ideas.....

Is it being plugged into a rear port or one in front which is plugged into the motherboard.

    Thanks For responding MMonnin

we got it figured out.... the front USB prot I was using, if you plug the connecter unto the mb backwards it will do this.... LOL...
usally it doesnt work this way at all, but this time it will work but it will randomly knock out one of the other ide channels... but only if it is a USB HDD, a pen drive or other usb storgae device doesnt do this....

    ODD
intel was as suprised as I was.....
