Ok folks I'm hacked off with my MSI K8N Neo Platinum (why did a get rid of my Asus K8V Deluxe???? :( RWB that was a great board you sold me  ).

So I'm selling it and my 3200 Clawhammer and getting a new Amd64 socket 939 3200, (should be available in a couple of weeks) and a new m/b. Can I have your recommendations for a 939 board please. I will be overclocking & it'll be in my gaming rig.

Cheers

Jim

I just bought the Asus A8V Deluxe, and so far no issues. I put a nice 3500+ in there and it took just 14 minutes to load windows and 5 minutes to install SP2. My goodness these A64s are sweet.

Well considering that was on a WD Raptor i'm not surprised.

I will be burning it in tonight as i forgot to load folding last night :bawling:

The only probs with the A8V is that the version we're getting in Europe doesn't have a working pci lock I'm led to believe. That would be something I want. :(

p.s. cool avatar, I'm big Alfa fan. :)

That sux, is it just the UK version? I see that obviously overclocking will be a must for you, and that would be nice to have.

Oh Yeah I have fallen in love with Alfas, even though the 86 US-Spec Spider I have now has no engine in it. I can hardly wait for Alfa to hit US shores in what 2007, 2008, 2009, ....... as the new ones are dead sexy.

You could keep the 3200 and get one of the new DFI 754 boards. :D

Lanparty Ultra UT II or something like that.

Unfortunately thats not an option croc, the guy who's buying the stuff wants them both. Plus the new S939 3200 overclock a lot better than mine apparently.

Mancabus, I think its the European versions with the wi-fi option which only seem to be the ones around at present.

Off.Topic. my next car will probably be a 2002 Alfa GTv6, damn nice and there is no better sound, bar none, than an Alfa V6 engine. Previously owned Alfa Suds, Alfa 33 & Alfa 75 V6 :)

    Consider the Abit AV8 (S939 K8T800 Pro) or the Epox 9NDA3+ (S939 NF3 Ultra)

[ OT ] Hey guys let's see some pics of these Alfas! [ /OT ]

Too bad the Asus board won't work out for you - they get top marks in my book. Have you considered importing one from a US member who has access to Newegg? ;)

MSI K8 SLI Platinum is the best buy for a socket 939 CPU
It has got an nForce4 chipset, SLI ready architecture, dual PCI Express slots ie Support for plugging two PCI Express AGP cards at once, Creative 7.1 Sound Blaster live! 24 bit and a lot more features.

I'm am personally very fond of the ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe. Not only does it support the obvious SLI (2x PCIe video cards) but it also supports more PCIe x1 slots than any other SLI mobo I have seen out today. A great upgrade and very easy to work with (built 2 PC with them so far).

Here is a quick link to the site ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe

well it depends on if you want to go SLI or not....

if yes, i like this asus A8N-SLI a little better than the deluxe version for it's affordability. you are losing 1 gbe controller and 4 x SAT150 on the non-dlx version.

also, this msi SLI board below is suppossed to overclock very well...but i don't like the missing pciex1 slots.

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-487&depa=1

then we have this DFI nf4 ultra board w/ dual pciex16 slots...early versions are able to be modded into full sli chipsets. but nvidia has apparently put the kabash on newer versions. don't know what people are getting from newegg at the moment.

if no SLI, then i like this MSI nf4 ulltra board...if it ever comes back in stock.

and don't forget the ever popular fatal1ty board. suppose to be very solid as long as you don't mind the red laser lights. :mullet:

I have an asus AV8/3500+ clawhammer (not an abit AV8) and I love it. It's a shame the specs are different for the UK version. I think the epox board with the nforce 3 ultra chipset is the way to go if you don't need or want SLI though.

I have 3 SLI boards and 2 AGP boards here. There's 2 of them i would choose as a 24/7 mainboard so far. The Epox that Omega linked you to for AGP, or the MSI NF4 Diamond for SLI.

There're not anymore but I now have a an MSI Neo 2, which I bought due to a lack of absense of anything else at the time.
