BestFriends.scr has Hijacked TaskManager

OK once again I'm posting about BestFriends.scr virus. It seems it has left my AIM alone for the time being, but has started tampering with folder settings and stuff. And I know the file I need to delete is IQKQIRQ.EXE but the only way to get rid of it for good is to go to Task Manager and end it, then delete it. How do I do that if this virus keeps me from getting into task manager?

I appreciate the useful info you guys have been dishing out. Keep it up. I'm coming down the home stretch on killing this virus.

That does the same thing as Task Manager. Promptly closes after I open it. Any other ideas?

have you tryed booting to safe mode and trying to delete the file and registry entry?
  • edited October 2004
How exactly would I do that? I can't find the file anymore either. I try to search for it using file search tool and it doesn't appear anymore. Or do I have to manually look for it in system files?
