Cannot delete registry key

I am running XP Pro with service pack 2. I have a "RunOnce" registry key trying to execute a DJTOPR1150.EXE. I have deleted the executeable from my "C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\djtopr1150.exe", but I am unable to delete the registry key. I have logged in as Administrator in Safe Mode and run regedt32. This apprears to remove the key, but as soon as I log in as myself it is still there (or has been recreated some how). Any help would be appreciated!!!

Uninstall Windows Syncroad and P2P Networking from add\remove programs.

Run hijackthis and have it fix the following, making sure that you close all IE windows first. (Even this one)

    Boot into safe mode and delete;

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking< folder
    C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd< folder
    c:\temp< folder contents
    C:\DOCUME~1\Peter\LOCALS~1\Temp< folder contents

Make sure you have hidden files\folders un-hidden. Delete the contents of those temp folders regularly, especially the hidden folder, as it is a prime target for virus' because of it's hidden attribute.

Reboot normally then post a new log.

Neither Syncroas nor P2P Networking existed in Add/Remove Programs
Ran HJT flagged the recommended and FIXED, did a rescan and the four "04-HKLM" had NOT been removed.
Booted in safe mode, P2P folder and SyncroAd folder did not exist, deleted all files in LOCAL~1\temp

This is the new HJT log

Something is not working here :). You do have all instances of Internet Explorer closed, yes? Those folders\files do exist as they show up in your log. Both Windows Syncroad & P2P networking should show up in add\remove.
Are you hitting *fix checked* after putting a tick in the left hand box after the scan?
Fix all those again with HJT, reboot normally & delete the relevant files\folders.

Clearly, you are right! "Something is not working here." That is why I have posted.

"Those folders\files do exist as they show up in your log." Is incorrect. HJT aquires its logs from the registry. It is the registry entrys that I cannot delete, not the files. The files and folders were deleted a LONG time ago. They do NOT show up in add/remove.

"Are you hitting *fix checked* after putting a tick in the left hand box after the scan?
Fix all those again with HJT, reboot normally & delete the relevant files\folders." Been there, done that, three times within this thread.

My posting is that I cannot delete registry keys. I've used HJT, regedit, regedt32,
Fixit Utilities, and Symantec registry repair but nothing will remove the entries permanently. Booting in safemode seems to work, but the entries are back as soon as I login normally.

Have to make certain :). It's usually the simple things that stop us.
Have you tried a registry editor like reglite or regalyzer?
You never answered if you had all Internet Explorer windows closed when doing the fix.

As I wasn't able to get my problem solved, I reinstalled the OS and restored my data files from tape. I spent more than 10 hours tring to "fix" the problem and it only took me 6 hours to do a full install and restore.

I do want to thank all those who faithfully tried to help. You time and efforts are gratefully acknowledged. I will be pleased to recommend this site to those having problems.

Yes, sometimes this is the best solution. We don't advocate it generally because we never know if the user is up to the challenge of a system restore ;) Glad to hear you got this sorted!
