No Post No Beep No Boot No Nothing

edited October 2004 in Hardware
My computer froze up and had to turn the power switch off and back on and now nothing happens. Everything is getting power and the green light on the mobo is on but there is no post or beep or anything. I unplugged computer and took battery out of mobo and reset the jumper but that did nothing. I don't know what else to do.

I did try to install a new DVD burner yesterday but couldn't get it to recognize so I unistalled it. So nothing is different then before. And it was working fine until it froze up.

I would start by undoing and reconnecting all the electrical connections ie., to drives, vid card, mobo. They can sometimes work loose due to long term vibrations in the case. Along the same lines, reseating the memory sticks and video card would be next on the list. While you're in there, make sure you blow out any accumulated dust and have a quick look at the hsf making sure it's still securely mounted on the cpu.

If still no luck, it's time to start trying to find the dead component(s). Do you have another computer in the house you can use to test individual components? If not, probably your best bet is to drag the box to a computer shop and have them bench test the motherboard, memory and maybe the hard drive - in that order, I would suspect you'd find a culprit among that bunch.

Good luck, let us know what you find.

Thats usually the sign of a dead mobo. What revision A7N8X Deluxe is it?

Thx for all the hellp. I fixed the problem. I decided to remove everything, clean out the case and reinstall everything. It seamed like my video card was loose when I uninstalled it. I'm pretty sure that was the problem. I've been running two monitors recently and the second monitor is far enough from my case that it is pulling slightly on the video card. Between that and me moving the case I think it finally worked itself free enough to cause the problem. Thx again!
