Our friends in the know over at AMDBoard picked up some news....
After being ignored for years, AMD is now back in Gateway's book and AMDboard has an exclusive document showing the first Gateway-AMD product of a brand new era. Similar to the 6805 model coming from eMachines Company that was recently acquired by Gateway, the Gateway 7405GX notebook sports a genuine Athlon 64 processor rated 3200+ and is based on the Arima original design W730-K8 from Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) Arima.

The Gateway 7405GX notebook has a Ultra Bright 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD monitor powered by ATI radeon 9600 mobile graphics chip and a massive 80GB hard disk that should undoubtedly inspire most of the big boys when writing their wish list to Santa Claus...
About time as well!

10-30-04 While shopping at BB today I "test drove" the new Gateway 7405GX. What I appreciated most was the excellent (Sony Vaio like) screen and, next to IBM, the best keyboard that I've used on any laptop. If you're a touch typist with reasonable speed you know what I mean. So, the price being what it is (looooooowwwwwwwww), I've decided to cut this short and go back and buy it!

My fiance and I just got 2 of them.. We've not test driven but saw the display and discussed all options with a very knowledgeable person (jason), who helped tremendously with what we want. I'm new to laptops but desktops, I'm knowledgeable alot.
    We'll see later tonight :D
