im looking at the MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R and it has 4 sata ports total on 2 different controllers. Could you raid 0 all 4 sata ports for 1 raid 0 array?

If it has two separated controllers, I'd say it's not possible.

You could only then try software raid.

That board has a "Dual Channel" controller, not 2 controllers. As such, a 4 drive raid 0 array should be no problem, depending on what the chip's programming will allow, that is, having never specifically used it myself.

    Good Luck With It!

    I'm afraid that's incorrect.

sforza was right on, you cannot build a 4 disk RAID-0 array accross different controllers.

Yes indeed. Great board though that MSI. Good choice. :)

I AM sorry! I must have looked at the wrong board because what I read clearly stated a "dual Channel" controller. Well, shoe leather is tasting pretty good about now. Sorry for the misinformation. From MSI's Website:

    • Supports 64-bit AMD® Athlon64 processor (Socket 754)
    • Supports 2800+, 3000+, 3200+ and 3400+ or higher

    Chipset
    • VIA® K8T800 Chipset
    - HyperTransport connection to AMD Next Generation of CPU
    - 8 or 16 bit control/ address. data transfer both directions
    - 800/600/400/200MHz "Double Data Rate" operation both direction
    - AGP v3.0 compliant with 8X transfer mode

    • VIA® VT8237 Chipset
    - Ultra DMA 66/100/133 master mode EIDE controller
    - Integrated dual channel native Serial ATA/RAID controller that will supply 150MB/s and support RAID 0, RAID 1
    - ACPI & PC2001 compliant enhanced power management
    - Supports 8 USB2.0 ports. (Rear x4/ Front x4)

I read the above and with the input from BUD's post, and the fact that I didn't engage my brain, I came up with my answer. I hope I didn't incorrectly influence your buying decision.
