Which 6800GT is the best?

I really need a videocard upgrade and well I've decided to get a 6800GT. Just not sure which brand to get... or does it not make a difference? I've got a choice of PNY, eVGA, or XFX... unless there's a better one out there.

I need something that'll run MatrixOnline and HalfLife2.. and well my Ti500 fried so im using a Voodoo3 right now. I know that the X800 will run HalfLife2 better, but other than that I see the 6800GT performing best on everything else unless im mistaken... and I'm willing to spend the $420 for it.

I also don't want it to be really loud.. I know that different companies use different fans and stuff, or is the X800 quieter?

I've heard good things about th BFG 6800GT OC... its supposed to have a lifetime warranty, overclocked right out of the factory and gives 6800Ultra performance.. all in one slot. But see what other people have to say first ^^

BFG Tech's 6800 GT is the best. Unequivocally.

Then which brand you buy makes virtually no difference.

Most BFG 6800GT's are able to hit 6800 Ultra speeds out of the box with no modifications. There are exceptions where some cores are unable to reach the required 400 MHz (hitting around 370-380 MHz and refusing to go further).

However, if you don't feel like paying extra for the BFG, then any 6800GT from PNY, XFX, Leadtek, MSI, Asus or eVGA will do perfectly fine. Your overclocking mileage may very (especially if you manage to get a 6800GT with 1.6ns GDDR3 memory modules) :)

Dont discount the Galaxy part from that list :)

It comes with the Arctic Silencer installed by default and it can hit way past ultra speeds without a serious heat increase :)

I believe the Galaxy is really only available in the UK, or at least that's where all the distributors I could find are.

I have an eVGA myself, and was easily able to overclock it slightly beyond Ultra speeds without any modifications.

Yeah i read about the Galaxy being quiet but i cant find it.

SMJ... I'm leaning towards the eVGA... how is the noise level on it?

and BTW i will not be OCing the card.

Noise level? Well, I dont notice it at all over the rest of my case fans.................

I gather it's no more louder than the rest.
