what format are you saving the files in? Perhaps you changed it. What is the error that is returned?

Maybe you should reinstall WMP. WMM uses the windows media codec, perhaps it got corrupted by another media player install or something.

    Too many acronyms... WTMA.

i'm not sure if it's my wmp that i need to reinstall? when i save the wmm file to a cd and try playing on a friends computer under any media player it won't work there either. first it says the extension is unknown, then it says "the player may not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file" and wmm only lets me save it under .wmm (or something similar). how can i change this? it won't let me play in any other media player either (quicktime, etc)

First off the extension is .wmv

    not .wmm

Now you may have used a codec, installed on your computer, to see the video that you put into windows media player or movie maker. Is this footage from elsewhere or from your camera. Like...did you get the footage from a DIVX file or something with a codec that isn't native to M$ where you had to install a player to see it at one time or another.

Check the properties of your file to while it is in WMP on your machine and see if there are any codecs (how it was encoded) that you need to install on someone elses machine.

the extension is .mswmm and will only play in movie maker.

the footage are still clips of pictures taken from a scanner. i've done this same thing and used the same program about a year ago and it worked on media player.

That is the project folder but not the saved movie. You have to open that project and save the file as a WMV file
