Spyware help

On some computers I take care, some of the students are having trouble logging on. The computers hang up in the middle of logon. I noticed a file that is called mstestbot.exe. I have not seen this file before. Once I end this process, the computer boots up normally. I cannot delete it normally but I can when I go into safe mode. I also went into the registry and deleted all occurrances of the file. The file was in the keys for Windows Update manager. I was wondering what this file is and how do I get rid of it. I also ran Ad-Aware and a virus cleaner. Neither got rid of it. The computers are running Windows 2000 with SP 4.

That file is spyware / malware. You may be able to remove it using HijackThis. I recommend running Spybot Search & Destroy first.

Also remember that spyware travels in packs. If you'd like to post a HJT log here, we'd be happy to have a look at it for you.
