trying to recover from bestrfriend.scr -- IE security problem

Hey everyone,

I got the bestrfriend.scr virus from a friends away message, so I used the previous posts to get rid of it and I haven't seen anything in a while. So I assume that's all good...thanks.

BUT, everytime I open an IE browser I get the little toolbar at the top that says "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer"

I saw a previous post on how to get rid of this, however when I followed the directions it did not work. When I ran LSPFix, it did not find the file CONNWSP.DLL

I still changed the VS7DEBUG folder to VS7DEBUG.OLD but that didn't do anything.

In case anyone is in the same boat as I was, I figured out how to fix this problem.

So here it is: use system restore to restore your computer to a date before it was infected.
