Please check my HJT-log -Martin463-

I'm having trouble with a searchbar in the top of my IE screen, which I discovered at the same time my browser homepage was redirected to Omegasearch.com. I couldn't get it out with OmegaKiller, and soon after it got a bleu buddy in the bottom of my screen. The bleu one even stayed when I closed IE. I also had a go with HJT (with the help of Merijn's guide) and that didn't help either. I've already started using Opera as my browser now for 2 weeks, but I really want to get rid of this spyware.

I've got Giant anti-spyware installed (trial version, almost expired), Spybot S&D, Spywareblaster, Spyware-shooter and Ad-Aware SE Personal. Ran the checks of the anti-spyware programs and then ran HJT, and saved the log (posted below). I would really appreciate the help, because i'm getting nowhere on my own. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Welcome to Short-Media! :)

Generally if AdAware and Spybot don't catch it, no general removal program will.

This might take mondi or someone else to follow up on this for round 2.

Set your computer to show hidden files and folders.

Check Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel for any programs you did not install purposefully that contain the words "Free", "Search", "Toolbar" (other than Google or Yahoo), "Casino", "Poker", "WildTangent", "Xadso", "Xlime", "SynchroAd", or "Rebates". UNINSTALL them all. If this option takes you to a web page, do NOT proceed. Just skip it.

Then, remove any of these files that still exist with HJT:

    Reboot and repost :)

I hope it's all gone now...

It looks clear to me. Are you sure it was Omegasearch, 'cause that shouldn't have been cleared up so easy if it was... Have you had any further problems?
  • edited October 2004
    1. I think so, my homepage was set to omegasearch.com the same time I first noticed the new searchbar. I ran Omegakiller after that, and it was gone, but when I rebooted the day after the searchbar was back. But my homepage wasn't affected anymore.
    2. Nope, I didn't notice any problems further. Thanks for the help, it was really starting to get to me :D
