HSA and other spyware attacks: help !

Hi there,

I'll try to make this as short as possible. During the last 2 weeks I worked for dozens and dozens of hours on it and now I'm really tired of it.

Problem: HSA and other spyware attacks

Symptoms:
-when opening IE the "about:blank" home search page appears
-when using yahoo or google I've been redirected to a 2nd unwanted search program which displays adware search results to my specific search term
-in between the real search results of yahoo I get unwanted adware search results
-a lot of popups
-whenever the words "computer", "forums" or "spyware" appear on whatever IE page, they are displayed bold and underlined, and by clicking on them I've been redirected to another search page which displays adware results
-in my software list 3 unwanted programs are being displayed which I cannot remove manually, nor by Easycleaner: "Home Search Assistant", "Shopping Wizard" and "Search Extender"

I've read and followed the HSA removal guide in detail multiple times already, but it's not working. One of the problems is that I'm not completely certain which entries I have to delete. Another problem is that after using Hijack This and AboutBuster and after deleting the wrong entries, I cannot delete the problem files in the Windows or System32 folders. They're just not there and also by using the Search function on my C:\ drive I cannot find them.
This post is really my last hope.

These are the programs I use, with the latest updates on them installed if available:
-Norton Antivirus 2002
-Ad-aware 6.0
-Spybot Search & Destroy
-Spyware Doctor
-Spy Sweeper
-AboutBuster
-Hijack This v.1.98.2
-CWShredder
-HSRemove.exe
-McAfee Avert Stinger 2.4.1
-Easycleaner

Below you can find my Hijack This logfile after opening IE. For privacy reasons I removed one O16-entry from which I know it's not causing any problems.
I made the entries of which I think they are causing troubles bold, but probably it's incomplete or even wrong.

Regards and thanks in advance for helping me out.

Marajevo from Belgium

    Welcome to Short-Media!

Actually, it looks like you've got them all pegged there. I'll run you through this once, and if it doesn't work I'll ask Dexter to have a look.

    PULL THE PLUG

    Reboot in safe mode

Locate these files and quarantine them:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\yddlg.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipzn.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\winkm.dll

Then fix the files you have highlighted above with HJT.

Reboot and post a new log :) Be sure to note if you have any problems completing those instructions.

First of all: thanks for trying helping me out.

I did what you ask but it's not working. :(
    -I only found 1 file: C:\WINDOWS\winkm.dll ==> quarantined it
-The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\yddlg.dll was not on my PC (I checked "Show hidden files and folders" and I also used the search function on my C:\ but none of this was succesful to find the file)
-The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipzn.exe was present but not under this directory, there was a register key under this name quarantined already by the program EasyCleaner; so I moved this 1 kB file from the EasyCleaner directory to the quarantine map I made myself
-When running HJT in safe mode, there was another file (O4 entry) which was not on the previous log (sysjw32.dll) ==> I also quarantined this file

But in the end, none of this is working.

New HJT log (after opening IE to check if the previous action was succesful):

Did what you asked for, I didn't find the 3 files (even not with the search function; hidden maps and files were displayed). No result.

I did one more extra thing: after restarting (safe reboot) and running HJT, I noticed another O2 entry (see below = bold) which was not on the previous log. BEFORE OPENING IE, I did a search for this file (applv32.dll) and I did find it in the map.
I quarantined this file. So it seems that immediately after opening IE, the file names are being changed so you cannot find (and rename or erase) them if you found them with HJT. So I think the safest thing is first to pull the plug, then to run HJT and immediately after that searching the file.

No result with this method however. :(

I post 2 logs, the first is the one BEFORE opening IE, the second is the one AFTER opening IE.

Remark: Strange thing and possible explanation why I cannot find the files: I see in the HJT log (the first one, before opening IE) that Explorer.exe is active, although I didn't open it !! I searched in my startup folder and explorer.exe is not in there. However, the file which is in this startup folder is ipzn.exe (which is the O4-file I can't find and delete !!)
Maybe this is the reason ?:scratch:

"that Explorer.exe is active, although I didn't open it !!"

Fix those entries, and if any of these files are listed in taskmanager end process tree:
    C:\WINDOWS\zgeip.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntrg32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipzn.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\b2_t_TSJETSJENI%C3%AB+REBELLEN+OORLOG&692.xml:xswwp

Then find and delete the following files:
    C:\WINDOWS\zgeip.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntrg32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipzn.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\b2_t_TSJETSJENI%C3%AB+REBELLEN+OORLOG&692.xml:xswwp

    YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH baby !!!!

    THE BEAST IS GONE !!!!!

Many many thanks my friend !:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Where do you live so I can take a plane and buy you a couple of beers :)

The ****er that was causing the problems was:
    C:\WINDOWS\b2_t_TSJETSJENI%C3%AB+REBELLEN+OORLOG&692.xml:xswwp

The words you see are Dutch words that I once typed in Yahoo, around the date the problems started. It was the only file of the 4 you mentioned I could find and after deleting this one and running HJT one more time we were finally there.

Below my HJT log. Looking good I think. One more question: don't I have to delete the O16 entries ??

Thanks again ! YES YES YES !
I hope it stays the way it is now.
Now I'm going to my fridge to get some beers and celebrate.

    Cheers mate !
    :):):)
