not urgent but need help though

ok im running this atm

1.1 amd thunderbird
512 mb sd
micro mini atx model "6342"
fsb 200

i want to put in a amd xp 2100
and i dont know if i can do it as i put it last time and i got no video signal just blank

i think i have to update my bios for it to work so i dont really know any help would be great
as im going to BIG lan this weekend so yeah just waiting out to find out

    lot of the thunderbird motherboards wouldn't support much past IIRC 2000+ tho it may have been 2200+. Need more info on mobo model...?

    Plus there are (again, IIRC) 3 different steppings of 2100+ (for sure at least 2) and we may need the codes off your chip to know too.

    well the model number for the mobo is 6340 msi mini atx board is that what ya need??? and ive been told the new 2100 ive got is a thurabread

    The thoroughbred chips had problems with older mobos I thought? My KR7A wouldn't take them without a bios update and the older boards have trouble.

    I just checked the MSI site and it says the board takes up to an Athlon XP 1.4GHz so I would be very surprised if it can take a 2100+ :P

    It does use the old KM133A chipset for reference... I can't remember offhand what those can do.

    No, the 2100+ is 1.73GHz.

    The 1600+ is 1.4GHz.

    Yes, but you have neither the motherboard or the RAM to do it safely and stably.

    awwww i cant win can i .... i need somthing better for gameing and better for cs...hmmm any one got a good decent (not over power graphics card they wanna sell??
