Hi everyone,
New member here asking a newb question about service pack 2. Ever since I installed sp2 I have gotten viruses about every other week. Before sp2 I never got one. Do I need to remove sp2? I currently use norton 04 professional and AVG for virus removers. Thanks again Chad.

It's a product of your user habits, not Service Pack 2. There's no other explanation.

Then why else would I get viruses now that I installed sp2 and never got a single virus before. Doing the same stuff I did before sp1 and now the sudden viruses.

I don't know your user habits, so I can't discern that for you. Suffice it to say, I can guarantee you that SP2 is not the cause of your viruses.

Just because one event preceded another doesn't mean it's the cause, though in computers it's easy to draw such generalizations. A virus could've infected your system around the time you installed SP2, and has opened the way for more viruses. You may have a virus lying dormant and reinstalling itself. There are plenty of reasons, though I can't find any of them that point to sp2.

Try changing your user name on your ISP account (your email name). After 6 years on the same ISP and the same email address, I was getting so much spam, and some of those loaded with viruses, it wasn't funny. I'd say I was getting 5 viruses a week average. Between my excellent AV (eTrust EZ) and McAfee spamkiller, I had no infections. I've changed my name and ISP, and feel like a virgin again (ha!). I almost feel neglected I get so little mail...
    So give that a go.
