I just built this machine and it's giving me some weirdness. I managed to get the processor Gromacs stable at 2.5GHz (1.9Vcore), but for some reason all versions of 3dMark crash to desktop or BSoD at all processor speeds. I haven't been OC'ing the FSB, but I gave the RAM and chipset an extra .1V for good measure.

And yes prime, memtest says the memory is good.

Here's a sample of some of the errors I've been getting.
BCCode 7f, ea, 50.
Mostly 7f.
Lotta DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL too.

Current system status:
Core: 2004.5MHz
FSB:133MHz
DDR: 200MHz (asynch)

Vcore: 1.8V
Vddr: 2.85V
Vchipset: 1.7V
+3.3V: 3.3V
+5V: 5V
+12V: 11.9V
Core temp: 46 C
MB temp: 29 C

Any thoughts? There aren't any cards in this system besides graphics, so I'm at a loss for what to do. I suspect it's something with the graphics hardware, but I really don't like that possibility :P so other answers would be appreciated. I've already done the ACPI HAL driver update described in MissleMan's sticky, latest BIOS, latest drivers for everything, slipstreamed install of SP2 with Windows, did the K7 processor driver update, crossed my fingers, thrown salt over my shoulder...

Flash the BIOS maybe? Try one stick or ram at a time.

    1. You do have the 9800 plugged in to the psu?
    2. make sure the card is properly seated.
    3. up the your voltages. I think the agp has an adjustable voltage, up it slightly. Also lower the agp aperature size a little and see if that helps.

mmonnin: just flashed the BIOS and memory checks out okay in memtest in both single and dual channel, 3dMark still crashes.

gobbles: the computer won't POST if the power isn't connected to the graphics card or if it's loose. I just tried bumping the AGP volts and still no good unfortunately.

I did some more homework on Google chatted with Geeky1 and this almost has to be a software/driver issue. I turned off APIC on the BIOS and reinstalled Windows, only now the nVidia platform drivers hang the OS during loading after rebooting. I tried reformatting and reinstalling just to be sure, and the driver installer was the first thing I opened after installation. Go nVidia!

I'm reinstalling Windows again and will use an older driver next round. Cross your fingers, pinch of salt...
