Can't Empty Recycling Bin

Howdy,

Windows won't allow me to empty one particular file from my Recycling Bin. The error reads “Can not delete Dc70…” (See attachment). The same goes for when I attempt to restore the file. The file is an Adobe Illustrator AI file. I rebooted making sure I wasn’t running any programs and still no dice. I’m running Windows XP SP2. If there are any further details I can provide I will be happy to so simply let me know. Thank you in advance for your help.

Try emptying the Recycle Bin in Safe Mode. :)

Yep, this worked. Thank you much. What could of caused this problem and why did Safe Mode resolve this? Thanks again.

Why Windows thought the file was in use is a mystery to me, unless Adobe Illustrator is automatically loaded at boot. Or, maybe a glitch in how it handles "Recent Documents".

Safe Mode loads a barebones Windows environment - no frills, no extras. Whatever it was that made Windows see the file as being in use didn't get loaded so you were able to delete the file.
