I've been gone for a bit....had a heart attack....bit of a scary experience...but I'm doing better and able to sit at the computer for a bit now. I noticed my production dropped seriously during time I was away. My kid's computer seems to get more errors than not and doesn't fold much at all. My computer was getting error messages...deleting work units...and getting "instability" messages.
Not sure what if anything I should do about this. My computer knowledge is enough to get me in trouble most days :-)
Any suggestions?

The Folding problem on your kids computer looks like an Internet connection problem. The "Couldn't get work" indicates an inability to pick up a new WU.

The one problem can happen at randon and the other is like prof said is due to a standord server being down or no internet at the time.
My system seems to be folding ok....think I might delete everything from my kids computer and reinstall. They connect to the internet ok...but don't seem to fold very well......less than one work unit a week and sometimes weeks without sending a work unit.
Try a client upgrade.
go to http://folding.stanford.edu/ on the machine that you are having problems on. If you can get there, then download, you HAVE a valid internet connect.
Click, on left side in links, the Download entry.
This will bring you to a page, if you want graphical go for that, if you want a console, go for that.
Try a new client version, though, given the Core VERSION and date, the Core version was released in August of 2004, the Client bewfore that, and ONE reason for the core revise was it became obvious it was needed for the new version 5+ Client, as well as killing some other minor bugs.
