Spyware in jpeg files--possible?

Everyones talking about the new viruses that hit jpegs--what about spyware? Is it possible to get spyware in jpeg files downloaded from the net? Pardon my ignorance.

And if the answer is yes, how to get rid of spyware in jpeg files which are on *diskettes*?

    I'm pretty sure spyware in JPEGs is, at this time, impossible.
