Scrolling Crash To Weird Clicking On Boot Up??

I was on my comp today and I was having my scrolling problem (scroll bar stuck at the bottom of the page) and it was doing it for like 5 min then all of a sudden it logged me out of windows and shut itself off....then when I booted up I had this very weird clicking coming from my comp...it clicked a good 20 times in 5 secs, it sorta sounded like my CPU was having problems
booting up and now my comp is acting really slow and responding really weird to key stokes (aka shift = enter and 0 = space)...it's really messed up
...any help would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot figure out what is going on here. You defintely have some sort of keystroke problem. If you took a piece of tape and taped down the down arrow or page down key, that's exactly what would happen.

Do you use wireless devices? Wireless keyboard or mouse?

nope, both are connected by a cord, just your basic keyboard and laser mouse

btw, what the heck is folding@home and the short media team?

Dude, I'm beginning to think that there is something wrong with your keyboard controller or keyboard jack. Try booting with NO keyboard plugged in. Does it still do it? Try booting windows without the keyboard, and then plugging it in after windows boots. If you have PS2, try USB instead. There's something wonky wack with your keyboard controller, I'm convinced. Perhaps your motherboard is bad.

Folding@Home is a project by Stanford University to simulate protein folding, mathematically. It uses distributed computing (tiny computers like ours help solve gigantic math problems and send pieces of the equation back to the servers) to do this. The research may help eventually find cures for protein-related disorders such as alzheimers and certain cancers. Some people who "fold" join teams, and you get points for folding. The friendly sense of competition helps encourage more folding, and it's fun for everyone involved. We have a very active team and we all love the project.

That's awesome. All you have to do to join is download the folding program, pick a name, enter "93" as your team number, and away you go. You are a member of short-media's folding team :D

damn dude. It sounds like your motherboard is the problem. I would venture to say that something obscure like the keyboard controller went bad. The last thing I can suggest is to clear your CMOS and then try one more time. If it still happens, I think maybe it's time to get a new motherboard. :(

Chalk this one up to one of the stranger ones I've ever heard of.

it it's only 10 months old you still might have warranty on it, i think most manufacturers are a year. so you might be able to rma it. was following up with your posts in the other thread and trying to find something online similar but you had me stumped. hope you can get it worked out man

I agree with Prime. Sounds like your PS2 port, or the controller thereto, has blown. You could always buy a PS/2 -> USB adapter for around $10 USD.

this isnt a constant problem tho, it only does it occationally tho...but when it does it will do it for like 15 min straight

The port could be going bad, then. Think of it in terms of a car. Say you need new brakes; one day they don't just.. Quit working (Not generally, anyways), but symptoms begin to manifest before complete failure. Squeaking, grinding, longer distance required to brake, things like that. The problem isn't constant, rather sporadic, and give an indication that the worst is yet to come.

You could open the side of your case and find large white text printed on the board.

You could run Belarc Advisor, and report the Main Circuit Board information, which is the second entry down in the right column and looks like this:
    Board: http://www.abit.com.tw/ NF7-S/NF7,NF7-V (nVidia-nForce2) 2.X,1.0
    Bus Clock: 220 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 03/24/2004

    You could find the box.

Or you could download a copy of SiSoft Sandra and run the mainboard information tool.

Thrax, even with all devices unplugged there is still a constant "page down" signal being sent somehow. I really think the motherboard is just blown.

Eh, yeah. I suppose that somewhat overrides a PS/2 -> USB adapter. Schucks.

It looks like you have an Albatron KM266 motherboard:
