ich have this mobo, a sempron 2400+ 166fsb, and a ddr 2,5 pc2700. and i can't install windowsxp or 2k or 98 or run it, but i can start the pc and go in the bios. So i lloked up in the user's guide of the mobo an they say, that you need pc 2100/1600, but i thought k7 333 means 333 fsb. so why isn't it working.
What should i do!

    You'll have to provide more information. What happens when you try to install Windows? What exactly did you do? What kind of harddrive do you have? Is your cdrom being detected? Whatever you can think of is helpful.

    If you can start the machine and get into the BIOS the memory must be working.

    I have built a half dozen of those setups. sempron/k7vta3 thata is. All worked fine with 166fsb. Some were pc2700 and some were pc3200 memory. Did you set the jumper for the memory right?

    You really have given no info here for us to comment on. No list of hardware, no error messages or info on where your installs bomb out etc..

    if i try to run windows it stops before the windows xp logo can show up and i have a black screen and the cursor is blinking in the left up coner. the same with 2k.

    and on the mainboard are only to jumpers, that control the cpu frenquency. i set it to 166mhz. What is the right value?

    in the user's manual it says that only pc2100/1600 is supportet, but on the box it says that ddr with 333mhz is supportet.

    WHere are the jumpers for the memory?

    cpu speed. Both jumpers should be to the right. Use default bios settings. Keep everything slowed down till you can get up into windows. Run docmemory or memtest to verify the memory is sound. You might also try another video card for starters. Any old one you have laying around. I have had more probs with gf2 video cards on XP installs then all other video cards combined,

    i updated the bios so with the sempron name.
    i installed win98, after the win98 logo i just can see a blue screen and the cursor thats it.
    and i ran the memory test 86 programm and he found a million of errors.

    What does pc2700 mean? Why does the user's guide say, that it supports 166mhz, but you can't use pc2700?

    You can use pc2700. Thats 166fsb.

    If you ran memtest and it found a million errors then you have the problem isolated. Unless you have all the timings set to fast in the bios its a memory problem. Every one of these I have built used pc2700 or pc3200 with semprons at 166fsb and they ran perfect so either your timings are set to fast or the memory is bad. Try it at bios safe default settings.
