Clock for clock, A64 vs AXP?

How does the A64 compare to the AXP for 'all-around' performance, on a clock for clock basis? How about for folding?

I've got the choice between an A64 3000+ (on an Asus K8N) or an AXP 3200+ (on an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe) for a primary rig. Which would you pick and why?

In my opinion, we wont really see the 64bit's potential until the 64bit apps start to come out. As of the moment, the 3200+ would probably run faster on most 32 bit apps but once 64 apps are released I think the a64 will blow it out of the water. I recently upgraded from an athlon 1900+ xp to an athlon 64 3000+ and see a slight increase in folding productivity, but that could just be the difference in MHz my processers were running at before.

Jump in what? And whats the MHz of the 2 different versions Gnome?

For folding I dont think there is much difference. The 64-bit CPUs are supposed to have the same FPU which is what folding relies.

Does the SSE2 on the A64 make any difference?

Frame rates on in games jumped alot same with loadtimes on heafty programs like photo shop and 3dmark scores jumped noticably. Folding there is a small but not huge increase.

With double gromacs it will help.

And I am sure it will help with games, because of memory bandwidth and some other things, but clock for clock with folding it will be about the same.
