Using Windows Media Player with Knoppix 3.6?

I've been playing around with a bootable CD of Knoppix 3.6 . So far I haven't seen anything that XP Home can't do as well or better.

But one thing that bothers me is that I can't play video (.wmv) files from my computers hard drive.

The only kind of media player I see in Knoppix is the Xine program, and it doesn't play the .wmv files well at all. Lots of skipping and pausing.

How can I use my own Windows Media Player 9 to see .wmv videos while using Knoppix?

Most likely not. I am not sure but I am guessing M$ used MFC C++ code to make the WMP which is microsft specific and will NOT run on anything but M$ products.

Try looking at the MPlayer project. Also Xine. No guarantees YET, but those are the ones working on that format of the Linux Media Player projects that I know of.
