Hi all, My BENQ 3300U scanner (USB) was working fine on my XP SP2 machine just nicely when all of a sudden it stopped working. The scanner's lights respond and it seems to be ok at startup, but when I go to use it the program starts to initialize memory then windows displays the .exe warning that this program needs to close...report error to microsoft....and so-on.
I have uninstalled the software and the driver then re-installed both, following the installation instructions to the letter. The installation all seems to go fine. It's just stopped working.!
I've checked for conflicts in device manager and all seems to be fine there.
I installed the scanner in another PC and it works fine.
What else can I try?
Any suggestions in helping to trouble shoot this will be much appreciated.
tRev. :scratch::confused:

    also have you try another software (ie infreview) to see if it the software that you use and not the scanner drivers

    Thanks for the quick reply Gibbons, How can I remove the registry entries (I am a novice when it comes to messing with the mysterious Registry!).
    I will try the scanner using ACDSee and I'll let you know how it goes...

    Q1. How can I uninstall the Mirascan driver from Windows XP

    Solution: If you cannot uninstall the Mirascan driver in Windows XP, please follow these steps:

    Step 1: Load the Windows Registry Editor by running REGEDIT

    Step 2: Press F3 and search for MIRASCAN

    Step 3: For each matching value or folder that contains MIRASCAN, press delete and remove the entry. DO NOT delete entries that you are unsure of, or that do not contain MIRASCAN

    Step 4: Press F3 again to search for the next value and continue to delete all MIRASCAN entries until the search finds no matching values

    Step 5: Restart Windows XP and reinstall the driver

    Well I filtered mirascan out of the registry, and then re-installed a fresh copy of it from the BENQ site. It still fails to load. It's got me beat!
