No boot no beeps

edited November 2004 in Hardware
When I got up this morning my PC was off( i always leave it on) SO i boot it up and nothing happens, no boot no beeps everything powers up but no display and no boot up or POST all fans and lights are on so i was at a lose. So as always when a PC goes down i start taking things out and testing them on my other PC. Now that one will not POST either. So now i have two down PCs. good thing my wife's PC is working or I would not even be able to come here and ask for help.

I have pulled all the extra out only m/b, cpu/HD are in. I can't even get it to beep saying there is no RAM. The power supply is BRAND new, bought it a month ago. I might have blow out the M/B in the 2ns PC beciase when i pluged in the PCU fromt he 1st to it, the CPU got VERY hot in like 20seconds.

Well it's probably the PSU. Do you have a different PSU that you can test? If it was the PSU, you may have taken more than one thing with it - perhaps the motherboards and the CPUs.... :(

Age has very little to do with failure rate. Once an electronic item powers up and works once you are over the infant mortality hump and life becomes random.

Did the fan in the psu work? It might be getting hot and shutting off.
Or you might have lost voltage regulation and taken the mobo along with it.

fans were working I ended up taking them to a computer shop they will have an answer tomorrow evening. I told them if it is more then 200 buck not to do anything since I can just peiece part those 2 PCs and get components off ebay and pricewatch and fix it once i know they tell me what's fubar.

Those PC are past their wearout date anyway

OK Got the orginal PC fixed it seems the fan on the CPU was spinning but not blowing air ont he CPU and it BLOW so the guy at the shop replaced it and he also said he had to reset the BIOS. Cost me 200 bucks (I feel so robed). As for the other PC it is still TU (tits up). it is an ASUS a7n8x mobo and I have reset the BIOS ( unplug/pull battery/change jumpers) and that didn't fix it I have taken it down to it's simplest form (mobo and CPU) it still will not even post.

Am I not reseting BIOS correctly? Is there any other tricks to try or do Ii need to break down and start buying new components. I have tested the PSU on another PC and I am pretty sure it is no grounded out.
