Found virus .dll but can't locate it. Help please.

I have symantec running and it detects this file wdmkan.dll It's the about:blank search page hijack thing. So, I've been reading this site on how to delete it. I rebooted in safe mode w/ command prompt. Then went to c:\windows\system32\
and typed in del wdmkan.dll
Then it says no file found. So I went to the location of this file and its not there but symantec keeps detecting it. If symantec is not running in real time, then all my pages get hijacked, but with it runing only hotmail does. Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on. I've tried to delete this using aboutbuster but it can't seem to delete the file either. It recognizes it but it'll conitually try to delete it and eventually I have to abort the scan.
If anyone can provide some help I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Ray

OK, this got rid of the hijacking of hotmail, yahoo, and espn sites. But the wdkman.dll still pops up. I couldn't find the file inthat folder to delete it. The kpipca.dll was there and I got rid of it but this one has been lingering around for a long time.

Fix those entries then find and delete the files listed above, reboot and post a new log.

If you can't find wdmkan.dll, try enabling hidden files and folders (the path is something like this after you are in "My Computer": Tools»Folder Options»Viewing»Hidden files and folders).

OK, this is really strange. I fixed those and I looked for the file again. This time I made sure all hidden files would show. There it was! I tried to delete it but it said that it was in use and I couldn't. I didn't know another way to get around this, so I tried to delete this sucker in dos. Then it says, that it can't find the file in DOS. Geeeezz.. Now that I go back to look for it again, it's gone. But symantec keeps picking it up and giving me a pop up about it.

Then when I fix those items with HJT, spysweeper will detect a change in my homepage and ask if I want to restore or keep. So, I go back and rescan with HJT and those files are back in there even before I can reboot the system. This is so weird.

Any clues about the apeaering and disappearing wdmkan.dll file?

Try booting into safemode (press F8 at the BIOS screen when rebooting) and fix the entry and delete the file.
