Help!! I've lost my ".lnk" files
First, thank you for being here!!!
The ps I'm working on belongs to a friend and it's used for business...... I'm going in for surgery Fri a.m. other wise it wouldn't be an emergency
She couldn't get Norton to install the updates (thanks to XP SP2) and called me, I told her that it was because of SP2 and to check Norton's site. Anyway, she wound up tring to remove SP2 so she could get her Norton to update and to make a long story............ she lost what appears to be ALL of her ".lnk" files I've tried every thing I know to do, to no avail. Every thing I try to open give me an error.... even System Restore
Windows can not open the file:
File: (doesn't make any difference what file)
To open the file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer.
What do you want to do?
I've chosen to use the Web service to find the appropiate program but I'm not having any luck.
Any help would be appreciatedshetech52

I will try the repair install before I do anything else, thank you. Would sfc help or even be an option?

Yea, I like southern fried chicken too!!... system file checker "SFC"
*I think I know how to do a repair install. Sorry I didn't get back online while you were here...... these stinking gall bladder attacks are driving me But that won't happen again after tomorrow's surgery
If not I'll search for the phrase "repair install" at microsofts site....it should??? be there.
Thanks for your help
Gotta love these hp/compaq systems. I have 4 HP QuickRestore disks and a seperate hp notebook Operating System CD....... I'm checking HP's site, hopefully I'll find some info there. I'm not sure where to start, I would assume the operating system, then system recovery. But I won't start this on assumption, I'll keep looking or wait to hear from you. I'm having surgery in the morning but will be home by tomorrow evening and should be up and back at it by Sat morning.
Gosh I hate feeling so lost...........
