Setting Stripe Size On New Partition After Initial RAID 0 Formed
Hi,
I have an Asus P4P800 E Deluxe Mobo, Intel P 4 3.4Ghz Northwood, 2 x 512 MB Crucial Ballistix Ram, 2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA 200GB, with Windows XP Pro SP1a.
I am installing a RAID 0 formation onto the 2 Seagate SATA HDDs on the Intel ICH5R Controller. It will be done using the F6 method when installing Windows XP Pro, when I am creating the initial RAID 0 volume I intend to use a stripe size of 16-32 KB.
When I complete the Windows XP Pro installation I would then like to partition the RAID 0 volume, keeping the initial 16-32 KB stripe size for the partition with Windows XP Pro on, which would be C drive, ie the "boot" drive.
The new partition(s) that I make I would like to have bigger stripe sizes. When I would be making the new partition(s) how would I make the stripe size a different value, ie 128 KB size, from the initial 16-32 KB size that I used when I made the initial RAID 0 formation? Do I need to use some other bit of software? I would be using Partition Magic 8 for the task of partitioning.
Many thanks for you suggestions.

Stick to 32k or less with ide/sata drives. scsi is a differant story.
