    Download CWShredder from here & run it. Select the fix button & it will fix everything related to CoolWebSearch that is stored in it's database. Close ALL windows, including Internet Explorer, before running CWShredder. Reboot.

    To help prevent this from happening again, install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits by going here for your critical updates.

    Those RO/R1 entries are definitely CWS related and CWShredder should have killed them. Make sure that you close all instances of Internet Explorer Windows (this one too) and all folder windows. Reboot and check your log to see if they are gone. If not, boot into safe mode by tapping f8 whilst starting your PC and run CWShredder again. Boot back into normal mode.

    Hi, I don't if this is going to work but try it:

    Go to Internet Options and click Clear History, Delete Files (including 'offline' if any), and delete cookies THAN run Disk Cleanup, restart your computer and see if that helped.

    Right click on the Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then select the security Tab and highlight the internet section. Then hit the default button to set the security level to normal. Try it again.

    nope, it didn't work either. i'm going to run spybot, ad-aware and AVG, CWShredder in safe mode, then clean my disk and delete all cookies and things before i make contact with the internet. Then i will run HJT to be sure and post the log. but i haven't got much time to do this, so you will hear when i did it.

    the only thing left is, that search assistant uninstall and SB soft are in my program list. the problem with search assistant is that when you click and remove that, it reinstalls itself. a few months ago, i posted a log here too, for this program and you told me that. i removed it then, but it is still in my program list. i don't have any problems from that program anymore.
    i don't know what sb soft is, but when you click and remove that, the list gets 'refreshed' (i don't know how to say this) and the list has been scrolled up and sb soft is still in the list.
    i hope you can help. (i still can't see my hotmail inbox, it loads and you can see that in the bottom of the screen, but the screen stays white....)

    it's more like this:

    i don't know how to say this in computer terms, but when you open a secured link or something you get this. not a normal link to a site, but something like hotmail. you fill in your e-mail adress and password and then the screen stays white. also this site, www.knvb.nl stays white for example.... i know its very weird how i say this, but its hard to explain.
    hope you can help, otherwise i think i better bring my computer to the computer service and he will check everything..

    ok I may know a fix to your hotmail problem. I noticed that the website you linked to, and hotmail both use Meta Refreshes. CWS may have changed a setting in your Browser to disable meta refreshing.

    In Internet Explorer, go to the following:
    Tools»Internet Options»Advanced
    or
    Tools»Internet Options»Internet»Custom Level

    And make sure that Meta Refresh is enabled in both of those settings, then restart your browser and see if it makes any difference.
