I use at least one of these every day. Usefull pre built boot CD's. I also make my own version. I prefer dos/windows version over unix but the unix boot cd's can be usefull for recovery.

I am sure there are others, if you know of other usefull boot disk post the links here..

MADBOOT

Barts PE

Ultimate Boot CD

The Knoppix Live CD can also be used for recovery of fiel system problems and do other things other than just let you explore Linux. I know you mentioned Linux, of the Linux bunch this is one of the safer ones to use, and the SuSE Live CD is also good.

Knopppix is V Good. There is another boot CD I have used a while back but I can not for the life of me remember the name. Can not find the CD in my CD mountain either.

Three out of the four are easy (PE you have to build). Just dl the image and burn to cd. Place in coffee cup holder and boot... (ensuring your bios has a cd boot option)
If you are not sure just ask Sally ;D
