Obtaining an IP addy through AIM

I found two threads on this through the search bar, however Im still having a bit of trouble. Simply put, my gf has a stalker...an AIM stalker *dum dum dum*. He's made it clear that he goes to my school, and I would like to find out who it is (it's a little unsettling for her and me knowing that there is a kid walking around with an obsession over her). I downloaded IP Sniffer and AIM Sniffer, however I havent been able to figure out how to get his IP through those programs (if u even can...).

So then I found this forum, and found those two threads. I connected with my friend over AIM (to test it), and then typed "netstat -n" through Start-->Run-->cmd. I wasnt even able to find my IP on the list, and I wasnt able to find a port "4443" like the other threads said there would have been, so I dont know if her's was there either. Those 2 threads are relatively old, so I dont know if AIM has changed much over that time.

Can anyone help me out and tell me if netstat should still work? If not, what are some other options? I dont exactly understand the idea of linking the person to a website with my IP ... that will track their IP to the site?

    well if you get the stalker to accept a file transferr that makes a direct connection to him (msn does this i dont know about AIM) then his IP will showup in netstat but if your just talking to him it has to go through the AIM servers and is bounced around erasing his IP in the process

    Didnt that make that clear enough. Sorry. I meant I directly connected with my friend, but still didnt see anything using netstat.

    OK First you have his AIM name, call AOL ABUSE LINE. (not that it will do any good without a police report or order).
    AOL wont do anything as far as giving you information or anything, tracking a IP thru AIM is hard, even with a file transfer, if he is behind a router you wont get the proper IP anyway,
    AOL will only step in and give you information if you have filed a police report and then the law asks then for that information.

    you can still call aol and let them know his AIM name and tell them what is going on. telling them about the problems, the stalking, the amounts of IMing going on.. if you have logs it helps, they may step in and boot his IP form there, (doubt it but worth a shot).

    try putting him on IGNORE,,, works wonders, if he msgs again,, ignore him again,,
    He may have a fantasy of your GF but what he is doing online is getting attention, and aggrevating you.. IT's WORKING,, this is what he wants,
    If you start to ignore him, as if he doesnt mean anything any more. he will go away cause he will get bored. you are no longer any fun to him.
