Sound Distorts With Mouse Wheel

Does anyone know why when I play music thru my computer, and I scroll down the page with my mouse, (logitech mx700) the music distorts? I'm using xp pro with windows sp2.

    i had exactly this same problem with my onboard sound. it went away with my audigy 2, i think its just a symptom of a ****ty sound card

    I know this sounds weird, but mute your microphone channel.
