pc100 or pc133

I am a bit of a novice with this sort of thing but I'm trying to help out a friend of mine. He has a 4 - 5 yr old PC and wants to upgrade the RAM but I am unsure of the type to get. The system (at boot up) lists the Mobo to be a GA-6VXE and System Info lists the System Model to be VIA VT82C693/A and running at ~608mhz.
It currently has one stick of 64mb sd100 RAM installed and he is looking to upgrade to 256mb.
I am trying to find out if PC133 SDRAM will work in this mobo as it is currently a lot cheaper and easier to buy than the pc100.
I looked in the GigaByte website but they don't list any specs for this particular board, but I did find some information here:
http://www.oempcworld.com/support/PC_Chipset_Guide.htm
This list suggests that PC133 SDRAM is supported by this chipset but I would like to know if this is truly the case with this board. If so, are there other factors that determine the type of RAM to put in this board?,, and is there anything I need to do to the mobo like change jumper settings or something?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
tRev.

You can buy PC133 and it will automatically be downclocked in accordance with his BIOS settings (PC100 at this time).

Oh...one more thing if you don't mind, I'm not sure, will I need to get 'double sided' sdram?

According to various motherboard manufacturers, the chipset can support four banks of memory up to 1GB. A bank is one side of a memory stick with chips on it. If it has memory chips on both sides, that's two-bank memory.

Realistically, you can buy any PC133 you want up to 1GB (2 x 512 is nice). :)

So 4 banks maximum, up to 1gig. and it doesn't matter whether it's single or double. Have I got it right? Sorry to be a dumb, pain in the ..s. It's just that I have seen pc133 sdram advertised that says Double-Sided - suitable for older machines.

Safer to go with ole standard double sided, some motherboards used to have issues with single sided. I don't know why they did, but I'd go double sided. There is no advantage to single or double sided performance wise that I know of either for the record.

    Just a heads up....

Chances are this mobo will only accept 128MB modules per slot. I've upgrades some Emachines computers for several people lately and this is how it worked out. 256MB modules were only utilized as 128MB modules. Try and borrow a 256MB module for testing before you buy anything if possible.
