pioneer dvr 105
Im currently having problems with my dvd writer, error message calibration failer on Nero.
I have been told i need to update mt firmware, i have version 1.10 but have found version 1.33, how do i upgrade this, when i click the .exe file it states i need a ini file. Somtimes it goes to dos and says no drivers have been loaded.
When you update firmware what is the standed procedure, do i have to put it in a certain location. It basically will not copy dvd's unless it is on 1x.
I was considering buying a new one even though this is only 3 months old, what would you suggest. the dvd disks im using i have had no problems with until now, it happens every second disk i copy.
I was copnsidering the nec 3500 which is 16x, would this be a good investment as the best around?
Thanks guys, iv spent 6 hours and still no solution.

You could try downloading the update again, perhaps it's corrupted.
If you're thinking about buying a new DVDRW, I'd recommend the Pioneer A108.
Im wondering what computer operating system you were using, im using windows me, every time i lick to update i get.
DVD rom update utility ver 1.63c
Avalible target not found.
I ran dvdinfo pro and done a disc speed check which was averaging 4x to 8 x, but cannot buen even 2x without this message calibration error. I even burned it to cd rom disc and tried installing. Won't let me update from 1.10 to 1.33 on pioneer 105. I have the disconnect clicked in properties ehich im not sure is correct and dma click, also target id is 1, logical unit 0. it also says no driver files has been loaded for this device, i cannot find none either should they exsist. Any help would be a blessing.
No drivers are usually needed for IDE optical drives.
What mode is the drive using? It should be DMA Mode 2 (Control Panel >> System >> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers >> Primary or secondary IDE Channel >> Advanced settings)
Iv located dma box via device manager them properties and enabled dma, but no option for ide or or mode 2. Is ide controllers located in dvd rom properties, click plus on cdrom in device manager?
Iv also noticed iv changed from datawrite red v (2) to v(3) when burning, main probelm is stuttering or not writing the disk properly, anyone else had problems changing? Im wondering if this is the cause? Version 2 red iv never had a problem with, version 3 has scrapped 17 disks from 19, the 2 in question were stuttering?
dma enabling is not in DVD properties, it's in the path I outlined above.
There's a fix for enabling dma mode if you can't enable it, but I don't have the link handy atm, it involves a little registry editing. I'm off to bed now, but I'll have a search for it tomorrow. Of course, if anybody else can help - please do
