Bad NB fan causes IDE and RAM apparent flakes....

I have had this exactly happen on three mfr's motherboards-- several models of each:
Random apparent RAM errors that low level RAM checkers, if system is left off and let cool before the run, find nothing wrong.
PLUS HD clicks and IDE bus LOCKS after the system has been on a long time.
7 times, the fix was a new sense-capable fan, 40 mm, and\or a new HS and fan.
Six times, the fix was a Blue Orb.
Some of the boards ran IDE out of the SOUTH bridge, but the North Bridge mitigates signals going from CPU through it also in almost all boards, so an apparent SB or IDe or RAM flake might end up proving to be an NB O\H.
Yeah, I could have returned the IC7_Max3, it WAS under warranty, but my shipping would have been more than the Blue Orb cost, and the fix took 5 minutes of my time. AND, the Blue Orb fan is a 40 mm, while the provided NB fan was a tib smaller (30-35 mm).
To stay FAIRLY brief, I will simply post this unless someone asks for details.
